The Last Exhibition

As my health has worsened, it has become harder to find the words to describe my work. I can say that I’ve always loved colour — the more, the better. Painting with black, white, and grey has always made me a bit uneasy. I grew up in communist Poland, which was a terribly grey, drab, and gloomy place. Colour became my escape from the dreary reality of the streets.

My works have never had titles, as I believe they only limit the horizons of the viewer. From experience, I know that everyone sees something different in an abstract painting, so I prefer to let it remain that way.

I created this collection of paintings over a year ago, in 2024, when I felt a bit stronger than I do today. These are the last paintings I was able to paint myself.

About the Exhibition

The Last Exhibition is a collection of abstract paintings made in acrylic markers on canvas by painter and photographer Mariusz Czajkowski, created in 2024 when he still had more strength.
