Open Call
An online group exhibition:
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Kills
LATE SUBMISSIONS
Official deadline was: April 12, 2026 (24:00 CST)
People with ME/CFS die every week, not only due to the illness itself but also due to denial of care and support. The deaths we hear about are only the tip of the iceberg; how many of us die alone, never to be heard of again?
This exhibition aims to capture the feelings and impact that death has on the ME community. We would love to see your interpretation of the topic of death surrounding ME. We hope that, together, we can raise awareness of this matter of life and death.
Submission Guidelines:
Prompt: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Kills: make one artwork that captures the feelings and impact death has on you and/or the ME/CFS community as a whole, from the impact of those who have passed, to your personal feelings and journeys of living in a body that is failing you.
Exhibition timeline: Submissions will be open from March 12 to April 12, 2026, and the exhibition will launch on our website on International ME/CFS Awareness Day, May 12, 2026.
Who is eligible to submit? Anyone who suffers from ME/CFS, regardless of severity, can submit their artwork.
What can you submit? You can submit one artwork per person. Art can be image-based, such as photographs, paintings, and collages, or written poems, not exceeding 750 characters (including spaces). Newly and previously made works are accepted. Artworks fully generated by AI are NOT accepted.
How should you format your work? You can upload image-based artwork in JPG, PNG, TIFF, or HEIC format. Please name files in the following manner: DisplayedName_ArtworkTitle (e.g., SuvistoNiko_WiredAndTired.jpg). You can submit text-based works by pasting them directly into the form's field.
Are you guaranteed a spot in this exhibition? Our goal is to include as many artworks as possible. However, we may not be able to accept all works, depending on the volume of submissions. The chosen works will be revealed on opening day.
